Requirements
- •Expert-level knowledge of Looker Semantic Layer, LookML, Liquid, and Looker administration
- •Experience with Looker API
- •Experience migrating from another tool to Looker
- •Proficiency in SQL including advanced window functions and optimization
- •Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or BigQuery
- •Intermediate knowledge of dbt
- •Strong understanding of Git workflows and CI/CD principles
- •Knowledge of data modelling methodologies like Kimball and Data Vault
- •Ability to write Python scripts to automate workflows or interact with APIs
- •Proven experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers in an agile environment
- •Strong communication skills to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- •Passion for documentation, Jira hygiene, and building repeatable processes
What You'll Do
- •Lead a team of Analytics Engineers dedicated to transforming raw data into actionable insights through a sophisticated Looker semantic layer
- •Mentor and coach the Analytics Engineering team, drive a high-performance culture, and support individual career growth
- •Manage team capacity and sprint priorities, balancing technical debt with stakeholder needs
- •Recruit and onboard new team members
- •Design, develop, and maintain centralized Looker semantic models (LookML)
- •Enforce coding standards, modularity, and performance optimization for Looker
- •Establish and manage version control and deployment pipelines in GitLab for the semantic layer
- •Collaborate with Data Engineering to define table structures and schemas optimizing analytical performance
- •Translate business needs into scalable data models for various teams
- •Identify manual workflows and automate them using Python scripts, API integrations, or AI
- •Co-create and enforce a disciplined Jira ticketing structure to ensure transparency and velocity
