Requirements
- •5+ years of technical writing experience (including senior or equivalent) and a strong portfolio of developer-focused content such as user guides, installation guides, API references, tutorials, and technical blog posts.
- •Hands-on expertise with Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and related technologies, and a proven ability to deeply understand and use complex technical products (ideally with Camunda 8 or similar products).
- •Experience with writing about AI concepts, including a good understanding of large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model context Protocol (MCP), and other emerging AI technologies (for example, agentic orchestration).
- •Proven ability to tailor content for diverse audiences and technical backgrounds, including software engineers, application developers, business analysts, and process owners.
- •Experience with Docs-as-Code workflows and documentation frameworks such as Docusaurus, with comfort using Git and Markdown in a developer-centric environment.
- •Ability and/or willingness to use the company's product.
What You'll Do
- •Own and drive the documentation for one or more product areas, acting as the embedded technical writer within the corresponding product teams.
- •Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to stay deeply informed about the product roadmap and ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with feature development.
- •Become a subject matter expert in your assigned product areas, developing hands-on experience with the products to create documentation that reflects real-world usage and developer needs.
- •Lead documentation efforts from concept through release—planning, writing, reviewing, and maintaining content that empowers developers to succeed with Camunda technologies.
- •Advocate for documentation as a critical part of the user experience, bringing the user’s perspective into product discussions and influencing design and implementation where appropriate.
- •Continuously improve the structure, clarity, and completeness of the documentation based on analytics, user feedback, and your own insights.
- •Collaborate with other writers and the broader Documentation team to share best practices, contribute to team goals, and evolve our documentation tooling and standards.
Nice to Have
- •Comfortable iterating on an existing technical writing style guide, advocating for its use cross-functionally.
- •Experience transitioning from engineers as primary documentation authors to technical writers as primary documentation authors.
