Requirements
- •5+ years of hands-on accounting experience including at least 2 years at Senior Accountant level or comparable end-to-end ownership
- •Strong experience with monthly and annual closings, VAT and tax reporting, payroll booking, accruals and provisions, Bundesbank reporting
- •Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax requirements
- •Experience working directly with external tax advisers
- •Degree or vocational training in accounting or equivalent long-standing hands-on accounting experience
- •Fluent in English and German
- •Comfortable taking responsibility for an entity and working independently in a lean team
- •Effective communication skills across teams
- •High attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines confidently
- •Experience working in fast-moving environment, start-up or scale-up experience valuable
- •Curious about better ways of working and interested in automation, AI and new tools to improve accounting processes
What You'll Do
- •Own the German close including monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and Bundesbank reporting
- •Prepare monthly and annual financial statements under HGB and support annual audit
- •Manage tax and compliance including VAT declarations, recurring tax filings, reviewing expenses for tax purposes, coordinate year-end documentation and annual tax requirements
- •Act as key point of contact for external tax adviser
- •Approve supplier invoices, review and book payroll journals from external payroll provider
- •Work with Finance Operations team on payment processing, control, creditor and customer reconciliations
- •Collaborate closely with HR, AP/AR and FP&A to ensure completeness and accuracy for closing
- •Manage intercompany reconciliations and support preparation of group financial statements
- •Help improve accounting processes and ways of working, identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring work, explore AI and new tools to improve Accounting function
