Requirements
- •Qualified lawyer (Solicitor/Barrister of England & Wales, or equivalent)
- •6+ years post-qualification experience in financial services regulatory law
- •Experience at regulated financial services institution or law firm supporting such clients
- •Ability to independently own BAU regulatory workstreams
- •Direct experience supporting regulator engagement with FCA or equivalent
- •Substantive experience advising on UK Cryptoasset Regime
- •Substantive experience with e-money and payment services regulation in the UK
- •Experience in AML/CTF advising on policies, controls, and regulatory expectations
- •Experience advising on outsourcing arrangements and operational resilience compliance
- •Outstanding analytical, drafting, and organisational skills with plain-English writing
- •Ability to distill complex legal and regulatory issues into clear guidance
- •Pragmatic, commercially accountable approach to legal and regulatory risk
- •Comfortable operating autonomously and managing broad, fast-moving BAU workload
What You'll Do
- •Provide legal support on cryptoasset, e-money and payment services regulatory requirements
- •Advise on account-access obligations and related operational compliance questions
- •Support active licensing applications and other UK licensing or registration workstreams
- •Compile application materials and coordinate with outside counsel
- •Provide regulatory support on corporate transactions and structural changes affecting UK entities
- •Support day-to-day relationship with regulators for licensed entities
- •Translate complex regulatory frameworks into pragmatic, actionable guidance
- •Foster a culture of clarity with plain-English communication and decision-ready recommendations
Nice to Have
- •Familiarity with UK's onshored MiFID regime and its application to investment services
- •Experience supporting change-of-control notifications or regulatory aspects of corporate transactions
- •Authentic interest in crypto and digital assets, familiarity with Payward's and competitors' products
