Requirements
- •10+ years designing and shipping complex, distributed systems
- •Proven track record of leading large-scale technical initiatives that simplified and strengthened core systems
- •Expertise in modern backend development, ideally in TypeScript/Node.js or Golang
- •Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure
- •Ability to see across layers of the stack, connecting product goals with technical architecture
- •Coaching mindset to elevate others through context, guidance, and example
- •Ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term sustainability and technical health
- •Strong communication skills to make complex ideas clear to technical and non-technical audiences
- •Bias for continuous improvement of systems, teams, and practices
What You'll Do
- •Contribute to core systems while modeling high standards in code quality, testing, and design
- •Drive cross-team initiatives that move systems toward simplicity, scalability, and testability
- •Support engineers at all levels through pairing, design reviews, and hands-on coaching in XP practices
- •Design elegant solutions to deep technical challenges in performance, reliability, and distributed rendering
- •Spot risks early, resolve systemic bottlenecks, and establish good defaults to enable teams to move quickly and confidently
- •Promote practices like TDD, pair programming, and continuous delivery to maintain fast development without sacrificing stability
- •Partner with product and leadership to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical health
- •Lead architectural direction and help teams make sound trade-offs that scale across systems and squads
- •Create clarity across teams to help others understand what and why the team is building
- •Refine tooling, automation, and engineering practices to raise effectiveness across the organization
- •Help sustain both fast delivery and long-term maintainability
- •Pair with teams to solve performance issues or refactor shared libraries
- •Lead design discussions impacting multiple services or teams
- •Coach engineers through architectural decisions or trade-offs
- •Collaborate with product and leadership to align technical investments with business goals
- •Review code and provide actionable feedback
- •Improve CI/CD pipelines or internal tooling
- •Define patterns, guardrails, or good defaults to raise consistency across teams
