Requirements
- •Strong AWS expertise and working knowledge of GCP including pricing models and billing structures
- •Data engineering skills including dbt, BigQuery or equivalent data warehouse, SQL at scale, and data modeling for analytics
- •Data science fundamentals including statistical forecasting, anomaly detection, and experimentation
- •Automation and scripting skills in Python, Terraform or Pulumi, Lambda, or Bash
- •Familiarity with cost/billing tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Cost & Usage Reports, GCP Billing Reports, and BI/dashboarding tools
- •Experience with data analytics, data engineering, or data science in FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud governance context
- •Ability to analyze cost data and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
What You'll Do
- •Find and ship savings across AWS and GCP by analyzing billing, usage, and cost trends and implementing cost optimization measures
- •Build and maintain the FinOps data pipeline using BigQuery and dbt models to create reconciled, trustworthy data marts
- •Build cost-vs-revenue and customer segmentation models to analyze unit economics and margin by product line and customer segment
- •Apply data science techniques such as forecasting and anomaly detection to cost and usage data
- •Build and maintain cost attribution systems including tagging policies and cost allocation for engineering teams
- •Automate cost governance through cost reporting, anomaly detection, alerting, and infrastructure-as-code scripting
- •Partner with engineering teams on architecture decisions to incorporate cost efficiencies early
- •Work with Finance on forecasting, budget tracking, and financial KPIs, building dashboards and self-serve analytics
Nice to Have
- •Experience with Linear and Notion for tracking and documenting FinOps work
- •Experience with dedicated cloud cost management platforms like CloudZero or Vantage
