Requirements
- •5+ years of applied ML experience shipping models to production
- •Experience in marketplaces, search, or recommendations is a bonus
- •Track record of taking vague product requests to shipped features that moved metrics
- •Comfort with full ML lifecycle: framing, data, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring
- •Strong Python and SQL skills with production code experience
- •Solid foundations in at least one ML area: ranking and recommendation systems, NLP and embeddings, classical ML, LLMs and agents, or causal inference
- •Comfortable with modern LLM tooling: prompting, RAG, evaluation, tool use, structured outputs
- •Practical statistics knowledge including experiment design and dealing with confounding
- •Advanced degree in ML, CS, stats, or related field; PhD or research background is a strong bonus
What You'll Do
- •Define problems and run machine learning science to ship models that impact the marketplace
- •Frame fuzzy product problems as ML problems and select appropriate approaches such as ranking, retrieval, classification, sequence models, LLM agents, or classical stats
- •Run end-to-end ML processes including data exploration, offline evaluation, prototyping, online experiments, and iteration
- •Own offline and online metrics and tie them to user impact
- •Ship models to production with engineering team using FastAPI, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, AWS App Runner, FAISS, sentence-transformers, and managed LLM APIs
- •Build evaluation harnesses and monitoring for model drift
- •Maintain latency budgets
- •Develop LLM-powered features and agentic systems with tool use, RAG, structured outputs, evaluation loops, and human-in-the-loop
- •Decide on prompt-engineering, fine-tuning, or classical models
- •Partner with product, growth, and data analysts to size opportunities and measure marketplace impact
- •Set standards for ML rigor including offline evaluation, experiment design, and documentation
